Wy'East Zen Center schedules various types of retreats throughout the year. For more information on any scheduled retreat contact Shintai Dungay.
One Day Silent Retreats
WEZC schedules 2 one day silent retreats each year. All are welcome, but if you are new to meditation practice please contact one of our teachers before signing up.
Periodically Zen Buddhists gather for sesshin, or 5-10 day silent meditation retreats. During sesshin participants follow a rigorous schedule from dawn until dusk that includes 5-10 hours a day of seated meditation (and sometimes more). WEZC co-hosted a sesshin with Bright Way Zen in August of 2017. Our current goal is to schedule one sesshin a year. You can also attend sesshin locally at Dharma Rain Zen Center, Zen Center of Portland, or Great Vow Zen Monastery.
Term Student Retreats
If you are looking for a way to intensify your spiritual practice for a period of time and foster community connections at Wy'east Zen Center, you may wish to consider participating in the Term Student program. Offered annualy, this program consists of committing to 2-3 one day retreats several months apart, and also includes holding an aspiration or a question for the duration of the training period.
