Meeting with a Teacher

Meeting face-to-face with a teacher is called “sanzen” in our practice. These meetings are times to distill what’s most important to you at this time, to present your practice, ask questions, and receive guidance and encouragement. Formal sanzen takes place during meditation in a room outside the meditation hall and is generally a fairly short, "boiled-down" exchange.  Informal sanzen is more casual and scheduled in advance. Informal sanzen is available by appointment with both Shintai and Jyoshin.  Contact a teacher to make an appointment.
